October 17, 1952 – April 22, 2015
Bob Siebert was born on a train in Salmon, Idaho on October 17, 1952, to parents Dutch and Winnie Siebert. The eldest of three children, he lived in California, Arizona and Idaho during his childhood but was proudest of his Idaho heritage. His childhood days were filled with hunting and fishing – his greatest passions. After graduating from Boise High School in 1971, Bob worked as a police officer in Boise for a short time and then soon moved to Kodiak, Alaska where he also worked as a police officer before joining a fishing crew on a commercial fishing rig.
Bob loved the wilderness and was a free spirit. He lived and worked in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Wyoming and Arizona before moving to Minnesota in 1986. In his words, he saw the best parts of this great country! He soon became employed with the MN Horse and Hunt Club and guided hunts with his beloved trained German Shorthair, Schoenie… his perfect job! Bob met Rhonda Jensen via a blind date set up by one of his buddies in 1996 and they were married September 17, 1999. Since Rhonda was a pastry chef, they decided to live the American dream and start their own business, Truffles and Tortes, selling her desserts wholesale to restaurants and hotels. In 2008 they opened Truffles & Tortes Dessert Café in downtown Anoka, MN.
In the Spring of 2011, he was diagnosed with Clarks Level 4 Melanoma and after a four year fight, lost the battle with this deadly disease. He passed peacefully at home.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, “Dutch” Arnold Siebert; and mother, Winnie (Jorgensen) Siebert Thompson. He is survived by wife, Rhonda (Jensen) Siebert (Blaine, MN); brother, Andy (Bonny) Siebert (Anchorage, Alaska); sister, Viola (Steve) Boman (Boise, Idaho), the Jensen Family: Robert (Ruth) Jensen (Andover, MN), Roberta (Martin) Butler (Alexandria, MN), Patricia (Dave) Holyfield (Flagstaff, AZ), Pamela (Kelly) Gothier (Andover, MN), Robert (Diane) Jensen (Coon Rapids, MN), Christopher (MarySue) Jensen (Anoka, MN), many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear, wonderful friends.
Bob was very proud to be an American. He was also very thankful for the care and love that he received from North Hospice, Lifesprk, and his family and friends during his last weeks. He was also very adamant about spreading his story of melanoma and encouraging everyone to have regular skin checks.
We would like to thank Mayo Clinic, North Memorial Hospital, North Hospice, LifeSprk and family and friends for their wonderful care of Bob during this difficult time.
