Passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 16th, 2023.
Mike loved all things sports related, especially football. He graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 2006, where he played varsity football and made many many life long friends.
When he wasn't playing football, Mike loved playing poker and watching football (tailgating) with his buddies any chance he got.
Mike had a fierce competitive side and was always down for a good game. He enjoyed playing games like dominoes, farkle, sequence, rummikub, and jackbox. Although, he would always swear that the other person was cheating to.
Mike had an incredible sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh with his brilliant one liners that just came so easily to him. He always had the perfect meme for every occasion, and his gif selections were always on point. He enjoyed watching comedies like South Park, its always sunny in Philadelphia, and the office. He had a knack for picking out the most hilarious birthday cards in the store each year.
Many people might be surprised to know that for many years, Mike worked as a bill collector. He enjoyed working for DCM Services and often earned bonuses and special gifts like sporting tickets and electronics. He often gave shared these gifts with his family and friends. He made many great friends at DCM, they were almost like a second family to Mike. They would enjoy sharing cat videos and going out to dinner or cocktails after work.
Mike was a gentle giant with a beautiful and kind spirit. He was a great friend to so many people who meant the world to him. Everyone who met him, couldn't help but love him. He was a great listener and had a calming presence that would make you instantly comfortable.
Mike was the apple of his mom's eye. Her one and only son, he was most definitely the favorite of all her children. Mom and Mike would get together each week for lunch and quality time until she got sick. He was an amazing son and loved her more than anything. We hope they are at peace together again in Heaven playing farkle and eating snacks.
Mike was a great brother to his 3 sisters. Whether that meant being dragged to another miserable escape room with no AC with Stephanie or driving an hour to the middle of nowhere and paying $30 to take Tiffany to the Trail of Terror each fall, because no one else would.
Mike will be missed dearly by all those that love him. Until we see each other again someday, as Mike would say, bye Felicia.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vicki Smith and father, Craig Sundberg. Mike is survived by his 3 sisters, Nicole (Matt), Stephanie (Josh) and Tiffany; his nephew, Benjamin; in addition to many more family and friends.
Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 3pm till 4pm with a Time of Sharing at 4pm at Gearhart Funeral Home (11275 Foley Blvd. NW., Coon Rapids, MN)
