John Kucheska passed away on January 14, 2022 at the age of 74 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. His battle with cancer this past year showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite all the pain, John came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
John was born to John and Rosie Kucheska on February 24, 1947. After graduating from Anoka High School, John served his country in the Vietnam War. When John returned home he completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota and worked for Hoffman Engineering until he retired.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating and relaxing at his lake shore home of 42 years. John loved his wife dearly and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, neighbors and fur babies (Pixie and Coco).
John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sally Kucheska; children Don Kivimaki (Dorothy), Stacey Kivimaki, and Jim Kivimaki (Shelley); grandchildren Mandy Quesnel, Eric Quesnel, Brandon Quesnel, Tori Newman (Jerad), Ryan Kivimaki, Lucas Kivimaki, and Adam Kivimaki; great-grandson Grayson Newman. Siblings Linda Olson (Jerry), Laurie Batters (Tom), and Tom Kucheska; many nephews and nieces.
Visitation and Service will be at the Gearhart Funeral Home – Anoka Chapel, 552 East River Road, Anoka on January 19, 2022. Visitation 10:30am Service 11:00am. A lunch will be served after the service. Burial Service at Fort Snelling will be scheduled at a later date.
