We are really sorry to lose John Kruchten. I was a SpartanNash fellow Customer Service that knew him for the last two years.
John was a nice person that we are sorry to lose him and all the jokes he would tell us and our customers.
He will be missed for all you do.................

I remember as a little girl our family would drive up to Fergus Falls on many of the holidays, bringing Grandpa, Grandma, my parents and siblings. John was my oldest of all cousins (about 10 years older than me) and it was through John that I saw someone going to college for the first time, someone then getting a job (running the Gambles Store). I remember touring the first Gambles store he managed (after hours!) and my Dad talking Gambles stock with him. My dad brought some of that stock so that taught me about the stock market too. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.   I have worked with John for years and enjoyed it immensely.   He was a kind, loyal, and caring co-worker.  He was always willing to help out in any way he could.  We loved hearing his jokes and had made a special corner in our newsletter for John and his jokes.   John will be missed by many throughout our company.   Please accept my condolences and know that we are here for you during this time.

My deepest condolence to you in regards to John. I worked with him at SpartanNash since November 2019. I always enjoyed conversations with him about various different things throughout the day when we were working together. He was a kind, compassionate man who made everyone feel welcome. I will always remember when he would walk up to my desk and say "Hey, I got one for ya!" in regards to a new joke; which always made me laugh. He will be truly missed and forever hold a spot in all of our hearts. Rest in peace, John.

John was a unique character. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. His jokes were not always funny but you still had to laugh because they were so goofy! I especially will always remember his kindness in thinking of me. He was always saving stuff he thought would be useful to me in making my twiddlemuffs. I very much appreciated his thoughtfulness. Rest in peace John. 


I am so sorry to hear about John.  He made me laugh every time we talked, he always had a joke and we laugh all the time together.  He was in a great place in his life he found laughter and never complained to me.  I will greatly miss our conversations and his Dad jokes.    He was an outstanding person you were blessed.

John was a co worker whom I worked many years with at SpartanNash. John made each and every day a little brighter by his jokes along with his helpful attitude. He also made sure I passed his jokes onto my children, who loved each of them. 
John will truly be missed and was an incredibly special person.

Even though I never met John, I talked to him on the phone every day, before he asked for my help, John would start with a joke, asked how things were across the pond.  Talking with John on the phone as much as we did, you build a relationship, not only did we build a relationship, we had a friendship, I will miss you my friend, and blessed to work with you, rest in peace my friend,  Sincerely;  Rob Kline

My favorite story about John happened when I was about 9.   Our family didn’t have a lot of money, but when I really wanted a bike of my own, my father took parts from junked bikes & built one for me - and painted it a distinctive blue.  One day I rode it to the park where I played for a couple hours.   When I went to get my bike to ride it home, it was missing.  I walked home crying and told my mom.   John heard me and jumped on his own bike and said he’d find it.    About half an hour later he came home with my bike.   He’d ridden around in various parts of the town until he found two little boys taking turns riding my bike.   They told him it was theirs, but because of the distinctive color (for a bike) he knew it was mine , and told the boys what he knew.   I was thrilled to get my bike back.   Thank you, John!

I'm so sorry for your loss Donna, Ann, and James.  I remember  when I was very little, John use to stop by the house and Tommy and I would shout at him, as he was getting out of his car, "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?!?" and John would chase us.  I'd be giddy with anticipation when I saw his car coming up the hill.  He was always quick with a laugh or a funny story.  

So sorry for your loss Donna.  So very sad.  Even though he was older still have memories of him growing up.
