You don't get to pick your extended family but if we could have Joan would have been on the top of our list.
Sheila, her daughter, my nephews daughter brought us all together early on.  Joan was always smiling, welcomed everyone and was pure joy.  
We are the lucky ones to be able to have had Joan in our lives.  R.I.P. sweet Joan

We only met Joan "Lucky" about a year ago when they moved in next to us.  What a blessing Joan was.  She was such a sweet, kind, thoughtful person.  We have a little 16-year-old Bichon dog (Polar) that Brad always gives treats to.  My dog will run up and down the fence on their side of the property looking for Brad to bring her a treat.  However, she always looked for Lucky (Joan)- she could see her inside the living room or if she was sitting outside -and wanted Lucky to give her attention.  Polar doesn't hear very well anymore but she sure could hear Joan when she spoke - even though she had a soft-spoken voice.  We will miss her so much!  Watching the love that Joan and Brad had, is something you don't see often.  Rest in peace, dear Joan, we will miss you!  

I met Joan and Brad 8 years ago when they came into my store to get new flip phones. Over the years I got to know them as friends with calls on holidays and other special occasions. Although the loss is sad, knowing that she is no longer in pain and free from the disease warms my heart. She will be greatly missed. 

Joan was our neighbor and daycare mom when I was a child.   My fondest memory: watching The Richard Simmons Show in the mornings, and doing the work-outs with her.  Our family had a lot of great times at Clermont's house in Andover!

I have many fond memories on my Grandparents farm when Joan and Brad would visit and other fun family get togethers through the years. I always found it amazing that my Grandma (ElJeanne) and Joan looked so much a like. I thought it was just the coolest. All I  really remember is all the laughter and giggling that would happen when we all got together. I’m sure the sisters are laughing again. Sending all my love and comfort to all. Great Aunt Joan was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed.

Our hearts are so broken with the loss of Joan. She was such a sweet angel on earth.
She was like my older sister that I never had. 
We have so many fond memories of her. She always had the biggest smile whenever we would see her which is something we will always remember about her.
RIP Auntie Joan .. God has gained such a beautiful angel but he broke ours hearts here on earth.

Maria and I send our thoughts and prayers to the girls and Brad. We know it’s been a tough time the last couple of years.  I will always remember the year I was enrolled at the U of M and Dale and Joan were kind enough  to let me stay with them.  That was 75-76 and Annette and Heather were just little tykes back then.  Sheila was later!  Joan bowled league with us in Maple Grove also back in the late 90’s.  There are so many memories of getting together in Ottertail that I couldn’t begin to cover all the great times we had.  She will be missed. Larry and Maria Bormann

Some of my favorite childhood memories were when Joan & Brad would come stay at the farm in Ottertail, MN. So much fun and laughter. I will forever cherish those memories and never forget her sweet smile. Sending love, hugs and prayers.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Brad Nye; daughters, Annette (Tim) Miskavige, Heather (Robert) Ingman, Sheila (Ryan) Higgins; grandchildren, TJ (Ashley) Miskavige, Kayla (Steve) Dreon, Tyler and Brady (Janis) Noyes; great-grandchildren, Addyson and Gage Miskavige, Camdyn Noyes, and Colton Dreon; sister, Ardis Jorgensen; brothers, Delvin and Arling Pedersen; and several family members and friends.
