He is preceded in passing by his parents, Vernon and Wanda Weimer; brother, Lyle (Cheryl) Weimer; and nephew, Craig Ives.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Dawn; daughters, Paula (Eric) Peterson, Jessica (Mike) Moszer, and Crysta Weimer; grandchildren, Dacota (RaeLynn) Case, HalleJo, Jadyn, Parker, Nolan, Cyris, Violet, Scarlett, and Ethan; great-grandchild, Charlie; siblings, Wendy (Jim) Lynch, Mike (ZoAnn), Randy (Sandra), Ron (Sharon), Cindy (Paul) Wenzel and twin brother, Charlie Weimer; many nieces and nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
Doug was born March 14, 1965 in Minneapolis, MN, to Vernon and Wanda Weimer. He graduated from Edison High School in 1983. He was enlisted in the Army from November 1983 to August 1989, where he worked in Vehicle Maintenance. He received the Army Achievement Medal in 1985. He graduated from Dunwoody Institute of Minneapolis in 1990 as a Heating and Cooling Systems: Fabrication, Installation and Service Tradesman. He spent the last 20 years at Metro Sheet Metal. He excelled at pushing people to get work done, and made sure the job was done correctly.
He married the love of his life, Dawn, on December 7th, 1996. They have three daughters, but the grandkids were his favorite! He enjoyed getting together with the family, playing games and having fun together. Numerous vacation, hiking, biking, exercising, and playing on playgrounds with the grandkids. Yearly fishing and hunting trips with his son-in-laws, and going to the Back to the 50's with his brothers were the highlights of every year. Miles and miles of driving in the 1962 Chevy II Nova with Dawn and his granddaughters, Halle and Jadyn. He loved going on the Hot Rod Power Tour so much, that they did it 8 times. He fought a courageous battle with lung cancer for 7 months. Cancer sucks. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.
Join us to celebrate Doug's life on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids. Visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, memorial service at 1:00 pm, and appetizers to follow.
