Catherine "Cathy" Louise Swigart

Cathy was born August 2nd, 1946, to Joe and Ann Pribula. Cathy was the youngest of 5 siblings, and the apple of her dads eye. She married William (Bill) Swigart Sr. on July 27th, 1963. They had 3 children. William (Bill) Jr., Brad, and Bonnie. The 3 B's, as mom liked to call them. Cathy's favorite role was mom. She was the typical 60's, 70's and 80's mom. Making homemade dinners, school lunches, baking cookies and hanging laundry from the clothes pole lines in the backyard of their home in NE Minneapolis. Always beckoning her kids home for dinner with her signature yell from the back porch. Heard through the neighborhood, they always knew it was time to come home for dinner, or in for the night. Weekends were spent with siblings and the cousins, playing poker and cards. Or bowling with her in-laws. Other times, spending time with the neighborhood friends. Cathy was an excellent poker and cribbage player. As her kids grew, she worked part time jobs in retail. Even becoming a cashier supervisor at Get it For Less in Apache Plaza. Many fun times were spent with her extended "Get it For Less" family.

In her later years, she traded in cashiering to become her second favorite role of Grandma. Never missing a chance to spend time babysitting and helping to raise those little ones. Cathy loved her family fiercely, and would do whatever she could for her kids, and grandkids. Her favorite things were whatever they had going on. From band and choir concerts, to school sports and activities, to graduations, she was going to do her best to miss none of it!

She was a stubborn spitfire, which would serve her well later, as she battled several worsening health conditions. She was a tough old bird, and fought through 8 1/2 years of dialysis. She had many great caregivers from Big Lake Centracare/Fresenius, and M Health Fairview in Princeton. Many wonderful Drs and staff, several of which became good friends. She continued doing her best to be a great mom and grandma, baking her signature carrot bars and apple cake.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ann; Siblings, Jack, Mike, and Joanne. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth (FL); Her children, William Jr. (Deb), Brad (Darcy), and Bonnie; Her grandchildren, Mikayla, Brandon and Sam, Olivia, Joe and Conner, Wyatt, Gabby and Nikki; and her great grandchildren, Raelynn, Benson, Greyson, and Hudson; Her very special niece, Sandra; and several other nieces, nephews and friends. We also cannot forget that Cathy loved pets, and had many special dogs through her life. She is survived by her latest pup, Kaia, that she got with her grand daughter, Gabby. Kaia already misses her dearly, as will all of us.

Celebration of Life to be Held on Friday, August 11th, 2023, from 4 pm - 6 pm at Gearhart Chapel, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Service starting at 5:00 pm. Please join us for a light dinner after the service at 7pm at the Station 1 Event Center, 26140 136th St, Zimmerman, MN.
