Elaine Fletcher, 67, of Blackwater, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on March 28, 2025. She was born on March 10, 1958, in Roswell, New Mexico to Harry and Josephine Applegate.
Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Cooking was one of her true passions, a skill she learned from her mother. Holidays, particularly Thanksgiving, were special to Elaine, as she enjoyed preparing meals for her loved ones and creating memories around the dinner table.
Elaine’s love for animals, particularly dogs, was evident throughout her life. Growing up in New Mexico, she often spent time outdoors, playing with animals and coloring. She was known for her boundless kindness and generosity, always welcoming anyone into her home with an open heart. No one ever left her door without feeling loved and cared for.
Elaine was a lover of music and was frequently heard listening to the sounds of Michael Jackson, Cher, ABBA, Al Green, Prince, and Selena, bringing joy to those around her with her infectious enthusiasm.
Elaine is survived by her devoted husband, Frederick Fletcher Sr.; her sons, Sage Etsitty and Samuel Fletcher; her sisters, Marie Lewis Applegate and Angelita Ann Repama; and her cherished grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her two sons, Ray Etsitty and Frederick Fletcher Jr.; her sister, Bernice Delores Lewis; and her brother, William Applegate Sr.
Elaine will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering support of her family, and her big heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
