NB Evans passed away Monday, November 24, 2014, at his home in Conway. He was born September 21, 1930 in Quitman, Arkansas, the son of Benjamin and Bessie (Patterson) Evans. NB was a retired US Air Force Master Sergeant. He served as a Flight Engineer and a Flight Engineering Instructor during his 21 years of service. He flew all over the world, including numerous trips to Vietnam, and had over 15, 000 hours flight time. After his retirement in 1971, he built homes in Central Arkansas with his brother, Esker Evans. He later worked in the maintenance department at Conway Human Development Center where he retired in 1990. He was a Southern Baptist and a founding member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. N B was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years and the mother of his children, Norma Jean (Nevills) Evans; his brothers, Esker, Truit and Truman Evans; his sister, Emmazue Brakebill; and a granddaughter, Sarah Evans. Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Ryan) Evans; his children, Frank Evans of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kay Kersh (Bill) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Debby Hawkins of Conway, Mike Evans (Maggie) of Decatur, Arkansas, and Jennifer Evans of Conway. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer “Stormy” Jeane (Chad) of Benton, Louisiana, Justin Hawkins (Judy) of Conway, Van Evans (Liz) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lisa Worlow (Dustin) of Conway, and Jamie Evans of Tulsa; his great-grandchildren, Sydney Hawkins, Chase Hawkins, Jackson Worlow and Gavin Hawkins, all of Conway, Melody Jeane of Bossier City, Louisiana and Lilly Evans of Tulsa. He is also survived by his sisters, Imogene Linn of Conway and Mary Ruth Freeman of North Little Rock; and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, Conway. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Chapel. Burial will follow at Kaley Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family would like to thank the staff of Arkansas Hospice for their exceptional care, as well as Dr. Hershel Raney, Dr. Parker Norris and Dr. Blake Norris and their wonderful nurses and staff.
