Martin is not with us in person, but his spirit and stories live on.

It's been a year, October 11, 2022.  So many remember Martin and his stories.   He was one of of those First Name Only type of people.  You simply mention his first name, Martin and immediately people knew who you were talking about.   When Martin enter, a room, meeting, conference hall... Everyone knew Martin was there.  He had a very unique character and personality, he always ready to help a friend, a stranger, anyone, everyone.  For Martin a stranger was just a friend he hadn't meet yet.  
Martin, it still with us... as long as he is remember and his stories and memories continue to be shared.

Remembering an old friend and co-worker, Martin Heil would had 35 years of service at Acxiom. 

There are those few, when they pass on.  Their memory hangs around, to where it's seem they just taken a little trip. 
He was a seasoned storyteller. 

As a friend mention, you could refer to him by first name only and everyone knew exactly who you were talking about.  Simply, Martin. 

I just heard about Martin's passing.  I knew Martin from Acxiom. 
What a unique and lively person that touched many people's lives through fun and friendship.  May his memory live on in all of us.

My most heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences on the passing of Martin. I knew Martin at Acxiom through working in the Wellness Center. I remember what a gregarious and affable person he was and especially his epic battles at horseshoes during the yearly tournaments we'd have. He will be missed.

So sorry and shocked to hear of Martin’s passing.  We met while working at Acxiom many years ago and hung out quite a few times.  He was always very welcoming and quite the storyteller.  Our condolences to Pam and the family.

My heart is hurting for all of you.  Martin was a wonderful, special person that I was glad to know.  I have so many fond memories of Martin at Scouts, Acxiom, and crating at the house.  It comforts me that God has called him home to gift everyone in heaven with his smiling face.

Marty was the first and only man that kissed me on the lips. I was shocked at first...but realized later that he liked to incite people😁 We were able to argue without hate after. I'll always miss our debates!

Chris and the Heil Family :  May God grant you strength at this time on the loss of your brother. Your family has suffered great loss already this year with the loss in June of your beloved mother.  Marty was  a senior at Catholic when I was  a freshman there.  We all looked up to the Seniors. They were our heroes. Marty  was a  tremendous swimmer as were  all of the Heils  in those days. I am so sad to hear that Martin is gone, and I'm praying for you as you work through the loss of him.  He was truly a unique person that I will always remember.  He was so sweet to me when I had a particularly low event in my life.   Fun, friendly, big heart, caring, diligent - all words that I think of when I think of Martin.

Many of my most treasured high school memories involved Marty. He will always be one of the  most memorable people in my life! He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He was always a protector of those he loved. Even when we were very young, He was never afraid to speak his truth. One of the things I admired the most about Marty was that he was TOTALLY and COMPLETELY comfortable in his own skin!!! That is a rare gift that most of us can only strive for! As long as I live, I will never see a sail boat or an El Camino without thinking of Marty Hell. I have no doubt that He is still looking over and protecting his beloved family. We are truly saddened by the news of Martin’s passing.  What a one of a kind man. He touched so many lives. I will always remember his laughter and his true passion for the outdoors, especially our shared interest for waterfowl hunting. We lost a giant. In times like these it is most important to keep the faith and know that God has prepared a very special place in his kingdom just for Martin. Godspeed.

Martin was one of the very best neighbors and people you could meet. He helped many far beyond what most people would. 

He always went out of his way to help organize neighborhood gatherings, was involved in our neighborhood special projects, and if a neighbor was in need, he always seemed to be there.

His incredible spirit, energy and boyish playfulness always added a great sense of fun to whatever he seemed to be involved in … a bit of a tease, too!

So sad to hear this. I didn't know Marty well at all, but I will forever remember him as one of the Arkansas Heil's who made the trip to Ohio to show the Ohio Heil's love and support when we lost some of our more immediate loved ones. I'll always remember him for his sense of humor and his ability to captivate you with a story. Sending love and peace from Ohio.

Martin was always full of life and shared it with so many people. He was always happy to see you and would take time to visit. He never met a stranger, and seemed to know ever.. I will miss his smile and laugh..

I am so sorry for your loss and prayer God shower you all with comfort peace as you learn to live with out Martin.

Martin was a joy to work with. He brought so much laughter to our row.  We sat across from each other and there was never a dull moment.

Martin knew everyone and I mean everyone! Because of that he would raid retirement luncheons and I would tag along with him. 

He will be missed. 


To the Heil family,
Needless to say Steve and I are in shock (as you are too).  Marty lived his life to the fullest and loved his family.  He is greeting his mom and dad with open arms.  May you have peace and comfort and share the fondest memories together.

Pat and I are very sad to read that Martin passed away.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family.  May he rest in peace. 

To Pam, Lauren, Jonathan, Brik, Derek and Kim,

Marty was a Gentleman's Gentleman.  We were fortunate to have been neighbors of the Heil family from July of 1976 until the kids started moving out.  The whole family was a delight to be around, especially Marty.  Whenever he would visit in the neighborhood, he would come over and we would enjoy either a beer or a dram of Scotch or whatever was around to consume.  He was a very knowledgeable young man and enjoyed a good conversation.  
Martin was in Church every Sunday with his family and was a devoted Member of Christ the King Catholic Church.  It is difficult for those of us who are left behind to realize that Martin now has Everlasting Life with GOD.  He was met at the Pearly Gates by Saint Peter with open arms and a big "Welcome Home Marty".   Marty has seen the Face of GOD and is now in the dwelling place in his Father's House that has been prepared for him.  Marty is now visiting with family and friends that have gone before him.  
Marty, you have competed well for the faith (fought the good fight).  Your reward in Heaven has been won!  
May you Rest in Peace!

I spent a lot of time at Marty’s house as a kid with Derek, and even had Marty as a Cub Scout leader when we were young. He was always nice and had a great sense of humor, and a wonderful family. Wishing everyone strength through a tough time

I worked with Martin for years at Acxiom. He was one of a kind!  He loved gardening and his dang  chair he didn’t want to give up. We laughed but he eventually gave in. We went through so many changes at work. We usually walked in work at the same time. He talked about his kids and his grandkids. He brought vegetables from his garden to share. Praying for his precious family 

It is hard for a parent
To lose their children
The same for an uncle 
To lose their nephew and nieces

We loved that very unique

I knew Marty from Jr High, and throughout high school. He was such a funny guy, and great to be around…….RIP my friend✝️🙏

I first met Marty when he was head Lifeguard at PVCC, accompanied by most of the other Heil kids as lifeguards. While the mom's of the club watch in horror, Marty always kinda got a kick out of us kids LAUNCHING ourselves off the high diving board and sending a wall of water to cover him, or a sibling, on the lifeguard stand. While we had to sit out for 15 minutes each time, Marty would always sneak over and give us an ATTA BOY for our daredevil acts.  Loved Marty like a brother. My love, my hugs, thoughts, and prayers go out to the enormous family, friends, and all who were blessed to have known Marty Heil. Rest in Peace my friend. Smitty

Soon a Dear Friend, will be laid to rest in a peaceful place.  

Tears will fall, Hearts will grieve.  The day will pass. But the memory of that Dear Friend will always last.

I got to know Martin while working at Acxiom. He always treated people with respect and he treated everyone like he had known them forever. He will be truly missed by many. 

I remember many times in our early 20’s going to Oaklawn with Marty and Steve Ritchie. Later we would hit the hole in the wall bar across from the Med School (sorry the name slips my mind)  and meet up with Lew Marzouk.   We camped a number of times.   We drove him and Lew  to Dallas where the started their European adventure .  Marty  was a fun person to be around.  He lived life to the fullest.  He will be missed, but he is in a better place. Marty was always a great friend. I really started hanging around Marty in college and I was always impressed with his canoe paddling skills, especially on the Mulberry River. He had a contagious laugh that will be missed at every gathering of friends from the circle of 1974 Catholic High grads. He loved and competed fervently at horseshoes, cornhole, pool, hunting, chopping trees, and we always seemed to argue over how much wood we needed for our fireplaces. A good friend and a great person as I he will be missed. Prayers for all of his family and Marty.

It was a total shock to hear of the passing of my cousin Marty,  my thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well as Marty himself.  Jack Stang

I enjoyed meeting and knowing Martin from working at Acxiom and sharing some experiences together. He was a 'character' and will be missed.
