William Donald Francis was born July 8, 1938 in Houston, Texas, the only child of B.W. & Marie Cox Francis. He spent his early years in Crockett, TX and graduated in 1956 from Oakwood, Texas where his mother taught first grade.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State in 1960 with a major in mathematics and minors in chemistry and English. He later completed graduate work in computer programming from SHSU and from the University of Houston.
He taught math and computer programming at Fonville Junior High (now Fonville Middle School) in Houston for thirteen years and at Conroe High School for seventeen years, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed traveling, especially to England and Canada and hunting on his property in Houston County, Texas.
William died on April 19, 2023 at his home where he under hospice care for a short time.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Fultz Francis and numerous relative and friends.
A Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Tues, April 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the St. James Episcopal Church, 1803 Highlan Hollow Dr., Conroe with the Rev. Jerald Hyche officiating. Interment will follow in the Copeland Chapel Cemetery.
