Valerie V. Cooper (née Van Sant), age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the Woodlands, Texas. She was born in Orange, New Jersey on Saturday, July 24, 1943, to parents Veronica L. Dean (née Schauler) and Alfred Van Sant, and was raised with her sister, Cynthia Thomson (Lawrence). Growing up surrounded by family and friends in Millburn, New Jersey, Valerie enjoyed spending summers on the shore and winters ice skating in Taylor Park. She relocated to Montgomery, Texas, after marrying Henry A. Cooper, Jr. on April 29, 1978, where the devoted couple raised their family.
Valerie was a loving wife and mother, whose strength, warmth, and vibrance enhanced the lives of everyone around her. She turned the family house into a home, teaching her children to love fiercely and unabashedly, to chase bold dreams with confidence, and to carry tenderly the hearts of those they hold dear. She was an accomplished professional, achieving top producer awards in real estate sales year after year. And, as a fervent animal lover, both cats and dogs regularly found her a welcoming companion. Throughout her life, Valerie led by example, and her boundless heart sheltered all.
Valerie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Henry A. Cooper of Montgomery, Texas, and her three children: Ronald K. Vitale (Cynthia) of Conroe, Texas; daughter Susan E. Dove (Stephen) of Leesburg, Virginia; and daughter Nancy A. Glasson (Matthew) of Waco, Texas. Her legacy also continues with her four grandchildren: Sophia, Madalyne, Sarah, and Henry. Treasured by her family and countless friends, Valerie will be forever missed, and her memory will be forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Valerie Cooper may be directed to the foundation of your choosing for the study and treatment of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), or alternatively, to the ASPCA.
