Tommye was a member of First Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas.
She earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, a Master of Education from Sam Houston State University, and a Master of Theology from the Southern Baptist Convention.
Tommye was a retired public school educator and served many years as minister of music to various Southern Baptist Churches in and around Conroe, including First Baptist Church in Conroe, West Conroe Baptist, and First Baptist Church in Willis, Texas.
She authored two books, “His Wonderful Presence” and “Marcy’s Story.”
Tommye served on the Advisory Board and council for H2U, and was a H2U volunteer at Conroe Regional Hospital (now HCA in Hospital) in Conroe, Texas, for a number of years.
She was devoted to serving her Lord, her church, friends, and family, always strong in faith that God was in every facet of her life. Her unconditional love for her students, family, and friends will long be remembered.
Tommye was preceded in death by her husband, Brian Hayden, her daughter, Marcine King, and her son, Wallace E. Dodd, Jr.
Survivors are: daughter, Marilyn Davlin and husband John of Stagecoach, Texas; step-son, William Hayden and wife Elizabeth of Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren, Tristin Dodd and wife Felicia of Montgomery, Texas, Dustin Davlin of Spring, Texas, Kristine Falcon and husband Jason in Conroe, Texas, Brandon Davlin of Stagecoach, Texas; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in her name for Cancer Research.
She leaves behind many dear friends and faithful prayer warriors from First Baptist Church.
