Suzanne Rutledge, 75, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023. Suzanne was born January 9, 1948 in Houston Texas to Russell and Ruth Evans. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Rutledge Jr.; daughters, Paula Pemberton-Kelm (Mike Kelm) and Denise Stalcup (Steven); sister, Shirley Oxendine (Tom); grandchildren, Ensign Kale E. Pemberton, USN (Holly), Devin M. Propes and Andrew Stalcup; great grandchildren, Raeleigh Pemberton and Wyatt Pemberton.
Suzanne was born and raised in Houston side-by-side with her sister, Shirley.
She graduated from Waltrip High School in 1965. After graduation, she achieved an associate degree in x-ray technology, and spent twenty-five years in the x-ray tech and nuclear medicine field. In 1994, she changed the course of her life by working alongside her beloved Charlie as a journeyman electrician. She and Charlie fell in love and married in 1996, fulfilling Suzanne’s life. After completing her second career, she pursued her talent and love of art by creating a third career. She opened Kami Silk Scarfs offering one-of-a-kind marble marking silk scarfs and later added hand-made jewelry to her brand.
Along with three successful careers, Suzanne served several other roles: Wife, Mom, Nana, Nini. These roles defined her most important purpose, leaving a legacy of family. She raised two daughters, Paula and Denise, with her first husband, Jim Propes. As her family grew to include three grandsons and two great-grandchildren, she created special memories with each one that demonstrate her love, compassion and dedication to family. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel special in their own way.
A celebration of life memorial Service is scheduled Tuesday, January 9, 2024, 4PM at the Metcalf Funeral Directors Chapel.
Suzanne leaves behind heart broken family and friends and two Australian Shepard fur-babies, Bear and Bella, that she and Charlie raised together.
