Our dear mother, Ruth Ridgely Dodd Dazey, peacefully passed away on September 22, 2016 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 93, surrounded by the love of her family. Ruth was born on December 20, 1922 in St. Louis, MO to Ruth Combs and Randell Dodd. She grew up in Kirkwood, MO where she attended Catholic schools and Maryville College. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harry DeWitt Dazey and granddaughter, Cara Dazey, her parents and three sisters, Peggy Nelson, Nancy Goeteman, and Mary Eleanor Lee. Harry and Ruth were blessed with nine children: Robert Dazey and wife Susan Lupton, Nancy Parsons and husband David Parsons, Deborah Miller, Kathryn Wood and husband Van Wood, Barbara Smith and husband Arnie Smith, Mary Lee Dazey, Julie Gardner, Dash Randell and wife Joy Dazey, Elizabeth Becker and husband Clay Becker. 19 grandchildren: Timothy Dazey, Heather Irwin, Robert Cunningham, Laura Cunningham, Allie Stevens, Brandy Miller, Jamie Miller, Rebecca Miller, Katherine Ratigan, Jennifer Foster, Elizabeth Wood, Christine Hager, Catherine DeCoster, Cara Dazey, Oren Sanchez, Christopher Peake, Natalie Storts, Andrew Gardner, Annie Becker, and 17 great grandchildren.
Ruth’s deep Catholic faith was her guiding principle in life to which she remained steadfast. She was a dedicated mother who taught her children the meaning of selflessness and deep sense of spirituality. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 5-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7: 00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home 1801 East White Oak Terrace in Conroe, TX 77304. A Rite of Christian Funeral will take place at 3:00 on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 North Frazier in Conroe,TX. Interment will be held in Missouri at a future date. The Dazey Family would like to extend sincere thanks to Ruth’s Caretakers, Kindred at Home (Stacie, Lynn, Maria, and Claudina ), and especially to Sharon Durban with Visiting Angels.
