Ronald Bruce Alexander, 79, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016. He was born on January 14, 1937 in Council Grove, Kansas, to Ernest and Irene Alexander. Ron graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1963. After graduating college he served his country in the United States Air Force until retiring in 1980 at the rank of Captain. After retirement he and his wife Shirley enjoyed square dancing and traveling together. He was an avid fisherman and also loved to play golf.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Shirley; daughters Terry Wathen and husband Clift, Gwyn Wiedmer and husband Mike, and Denise Dufault and husband Douglas; grandchildren Brian Roper, Chris Roper and wife Doris, Mark Campbell, Ronnie Campbell, Kenny Karcz and wife Jenna, Ashley Campbell, and Alex Campbell; great-grandchildren Cheyenne Sims, Madison Campbell, Marilyn Campbell, Kayden Laughlin, and Malakai Karcz; brother Gary Alexander and wife Karen, and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 17, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Monday, July 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at West Conroe Baptist Church with Dr. Jay Gross officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Houston National Cemetery.
