The loving family of Rodney “Roddy” Wayne Fuhrmann Jr is very saddened to announce the sudden death of their Dad, Son, Brother, and Uncle.
He was preceded in death by both maternal and fraternal grandparents. He is survived by his mother Gloria Dupleix Roman, father Rodney W Fuhrmann Sr., Daughter Rylee Elizabeth, and Son Rodney W Fuhrmann III, Trey. He leaves his dearest siblings and their spouses, Ernest Fuhrmann (Nicole), Devienne Theriot (Michael), Natalie Quinlan (Brian), and numerous step brothers and sisters. He will be missed by his loving and loved nieces and nephews Gabrielle Theriot, Nicholas Theriot, Owen Quinlan, Vivienne Quinlan, Sienna Fuhrmann, Aspen Fuhrmann, Alanna Quinlan, and numerous step-nieces and nephews. Also, a large part of his life is his bonus-parents Carolyn Sue Edwards and David Davis.
He is also survived by many cousins who were all extremely important to Roddy. He had fond memories of spending time with them and always enjoyed reminiscing and telling stories about the time spent. He loved them all dearly.
Roddy graduated from Montgomery High School and Sam Houston State University where he received his Master's Degree. He started his Teaching and Coaching career at Riverside Academy and then took a position with John Curtis Christian School. He has two state football championship rings from his tenure there. He then continued his career as the Head Football and Baseball Coach at False River Academy. After returning to Texas, he coached at both the Junior and High school levels ending with Klein Oak High School. He then entered the oil and gas industry with his brother. He helped start their own company, Datalog, in 2016. Just as he poured himself into coaching, he focused on his new career and in turn had great success. Also, during this time, the ever-energetic Rodney coached alongside his dad at Magnolia Legacy Christian where the team went to the State Playoffs.
However, Roddy’s favorite coaching stint was coaching his daughter and son in numerous little league soccer, basketball, and baseball leagues. He enjoyed more than anything training alongside his kids for their track and cross country and being their biggest fan at any sporting event or activity Rylee and Trey participated in over the years. Both Rylee and Trey have Rodney’s competitive nature and his legacy will forever live on through them.
Whether known as Son, Dad, Brother, Coach, or Friend, Roddy’s enduring passion of his life, after his children and with them, was coaching athletics. While professionally coaching high school football or children's baseball, soccer or basketball, Rodney's love of sports and the life lessons they teach was evident by his passion. He left a mark on many people in his lifetime mainly by encouraging them to be the best that he knew they could be. He had that same encouragement with many people whether it be athletes, students, friends, family, or colleagues.
He was also always seeking a closer relationship with Christ. He taught Sunday school for many years to show his children the importance of Jesus in their life. His family knows that he is looking down upon them continuing to encourage and push them to be the best they can be.
Services are scheduled at Metcalf Funeral Directors on Friday September 9, 2022, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm for viewing and Saturday at April Sound Church from 1:00pm – 2:00pm for a Memorial Service.
Rodney’s Family is requesting that in lieu of flowers that you please attend his celebration to honor his life.
