Richard Molpus Hammond passed away February 23, 2015. Richard was born in Gadsden, AL on March 25, 1942 to Mary Molpus Hammond and James W. Hammond. He was predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife of 52 years Sarah (Sally) Hammond; daughter Patricia Hammond and son Rick Hammond and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Ashley Endsley (Trey Myers), Katy Cullens, Sara Cullens, Reagan Hammond, and Trevor Hammond; great grandchildren Hayden Myers and McKenzie Myers; and brother Jim Hammond and wife Kay. He loved his family and his devoted wife. He loved nature and being in God’s undisturbed creation—especially riding his tractor and hunting with family and friends. Richard was a member of the Conroe Noon Lions Club in the 80s and 90s, a life member of the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo Association, chairman of Texans for Troops in 1991 for the rally supporting the troops and for the homecoming for the troops. He owned and operated Hammond Car Care Clinic in Conroe for 13 ½ years. He was a member of a special Men’s Class at First Baptist Church in Conroe; these men were always there to support those with needs and they will continue to do so. His long-time friend was Larry Carnes who hunted with him and worked with him on the farm. His wife and constant companion helped make their 52 years of marriage special. A memorial service will be held 10:00AM Thursday February 26, 2015, at First Baptist Church Conroe.
In lieu of customary remembrances memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church, Building Fund, 600 N. Main Street, Conroe, Texas 77301.
