Ray Edwin Brown, Sr. passed away on May 6, 2018. He was born June 13, 1934 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Joseph Edward Brown, Sr. and Thelma Vessier. He and his mom moved to Houston when he was 12 years old. He started in the press room of the Houston Press when he was 18, became a journey man by the time he was 21 and at 35 years old, he began working at Gulf Printing in Houston. He worked there until he was 62. He then went on to work for the Conroe Independent School District until he retired at age 73. Ray was a member of the Ark Church where he attended for 14 years and enjoyed spending time with his family or outdoors where he could hunt, fish and work in the yard. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Brown, Sr, and wife, Florence, mother, Thelma Lorenz and husband, Earl, brothers, Joseph E. Brown, Jr. and Charles E. Brown. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Beverly, children, Jeanne Thibodaux and husband, Claude; Ray E. Brown, Jr. and wife, Lou; Jana Porio and husband, Rolando; sister, May Evelyn Von Tress; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 8 great, great-grandchildren and numerous other family members. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Cashner Funeral home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sean Thibodaux, Joseph Thibodaux, Michael Morris, Bobby Allen, Jr., Mitchell League and Chris Parker. Honorary pallbearers is will be Ronny Brown, Joel Porio and Chris Allen.
