Funeral services for Nora Ailene Powell “Mamaw”, age 83, of Cypress (formerly of Conroe) will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. John Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home. Nora was born July 30, 1928 in Groveton, Texas to Jesse Richard and Ethel L. King May and passed away on February 4, 2012 in Cypress, Texas. She was a member of West Conroe Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, John P. Powell; great granddaughter, Lainie Taylor Rose; both her parents; brother, J. R. May; and sister, Louise Smith. Nora is survived by her daughters, Joyce Ferguson and husband Stanley and Patricia Hamaker and husband Richard; son, Paul Ray Powell; sister, Dorothy Bushart-Carr and husband Raymond; brother-in-law, Vick Powell and wife Nina; sisters-in-law, Bernice Mason, Olivia Toddy and Bertha May; grandchildren, Kristie Boothman, Paige Courtney, Shawn Ferguson, Jana Jones, Stanley P. Ferguson, John Ronald “JR” Powell, Leon Ferguson, Carol Ailene Powell and Jesse Wayne Powell; great grandchildren, Matthew Martin, Jordan Ferguson, Erin Ferguson, Devin Boothman, Morgan Ferguson, Dakota Johnson, Amber Ferguson, Mason Ferguson, Tucker Johnson, Shawna Ferguson, Lynsey Caskey, Faith Courtney, Sydney Jones, Audrey Jones and Lee Ray Easthom. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Pallbearers will be Shawn Ferguson, Stanley P. Ferguson, John Ronald “JR” Powell, Jesse Wayne Powell, Clay Easthom, Brian Jones, Daryle Courtney and Rick Boothman. Honorary pallbearer is Billy Downing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Conroe Baptist church Building Fund, 1855 Longmire Road, Conroe, TX 77304.
