Melvin Sam Houston Lemm

Funeral services for Melvin Sam Houston Lemm, age 80, of Willis will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Martin Weldon officiating. Interment will follow in Molts Cemetery, Cypress, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 9, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.

Melvin was born April 21, 1931 in Spring, Texas and passed away on September 6, 2011 in Conroe, Texas. He passed on the same date as his little son, Ollie Clifton “Cliffie”, who died on September 6, 1956 at the age of 2 ½ years old. Melvin was also preceded in death by his parents, Ernest William Lemm and Urilda Thelma Hargrave.

Melvin proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked at FMC for 37 years as a machinist, retiring in 1993 as Engineer Lab Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evalena Lemm; daughters, Doris Babson, Susan Gilstrap and Smiley Phillips; grandchildren, Christina Nephew and Andy Hyman; great grandchildren, Davonti, Mersadez and Amiyah Nephew; and brother, Elmer Lemm.
