Mary Catheryne (Cae) Naugle passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2022. She was born on February 7, 1970 in Hillsboro, Texas and grew up in The Woodlands. She graduated from McCullough High School in 1988 and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2010. She worked in the Conroe Independent School District for 11 years as a substitute teacher. Over the last several years she enjoyed teaching students at Reaves Elementary School where she was greatly admired by students, faculty and staff.
Mary married William Barent (Barry) Naugle on March 16, 1996. She is survived by her husband, Barry; their two children, Heather Naugle of Conroe, Texas and Kyle Naugle of Brooklyn, New York; two grandchildren, Silas Smith and Bonnie Smith; her mother, Barbara Sonnenburg Holman; one sister, Ellen, and husband, Ryan Christopher Brenan and nephews Shane and Colin Brenan of Huntington Beach, California; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Newton Ross Holman.
Mary was a ferocious “mama bear” and enjoyed playing on the floor with grandchildren Silas and Bonnie. She greatly loved teaching her students, reading to them and telling stories. She also kept up with the weather on her weather station, provided feeders and nectar for migrating hummingbirds, and enjoyed hosting extended family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as get-togethers with numerous friends. Mary enjoyed traveling with her family to Estes Park, Colorado, New York, Charleston, South Caroline and a 25th anniversary cruise to Cancun. She was a fan of Barry’s smoked brisket and judged barbeque and chili cook-offs from time to time.
