Mary, born on June 12th 1926, passed away on Wednesday, July 27th, at her residence in The Woodlands, Texas. In the days preceding her death, she was in the company of her daughter, sons, friends, and caregivers. She was surrounded by love. Mary Carmot Kyle was born in Beaumont, Texas. She was the first child born to Brudge E. Kyle and Jules Hebert Kyle. Her early life was filled with many adventures on her family’s ranch, in Bandera, Texas. Mary was a lover of the great outdoors. She was adored by her grandmother, Mrs. W.W. Kyle, who often styled lovely clothing for her. Mary was intellectually precocious. She could recite Tennyson at an early age, and wrote beautiful prose and poetry. Her love of literature would continue throughout her life. She attended schools in Beaumont, completing high school in 1943. She graduated with highest honors, from the University of Texas in Austin, majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. While there, she was a member of the Pi Phi sorority and was a Bluebonnet Belle. Mary married Robert P. White, shortly after her twenty-first birthday. They settled in Beaumont, and had four children - Rob, Kyle, Don, and Judy. During this time, she was a member of the Junior League, the Magnolia Garden Club, and The Beaumont Art Museum. Mary was a wonderful Mom, a devoted wife, and a fabulous cook! She was also a life-long Episcopalian. As time passed, her family grew to include grandchildren: Zach, Kristen, Megan, and Natalie - and later, great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Parker. In 1987, Mary married Gordon Craig. They were very happy together, and enjoyed traveling. Gordon died unexpectedly, during a winter vacation. Mary continued to live in Beaumont, among her dear friends, until her health declined. In 2008, she moved to The Woodlands, Texas, to be closer to her children. She remained there, until her death on Wednesday, July 27th. Her family will always remember her as beautiful, intelligent, charming, and funny. She had a lighthearted personality. We will comfort ourselves knowing that other family members, along with a string of French poodles, are waiting for her on “the other side”. Mary Kyle was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kyle White, and her husband Gordon Craig. She is survived by her sons, Robert White of Medina, Donald White of San Antonio and her daughter, Judy Waldo of The Woodlands. Other relatives include her sister, Margaret Hopkins of Seguin, grandson Zachariah White of Boulder, Colorado. granddaughters Kristen Sinkey and Megan White of Lewisville, and Natalie White of San Antonio, great-granddaughters Kennedy and Parker Sinkey of Lewisville, daughters-in-law Brenda White and Tracey White of San Antonio. Mary’s family would like to acknowledge her friends and loving caregivers, who extended and enriched her life beyond measure: Ana Coyle of Angel Home Health Services (Humble), Lee Wheaton, Marsha Mounger, Mary Roberts, and Sarah Brown. These women delivered highly-skilled and compassionate care. Their dedication was outstanding. We also wish to thank Mother Vivien and Father Shawn of Trinity Episcopal Church, The Woodlands, for their many visits to Mary’s bedside in the final months of her life. A private service for the immediate family will be held for her, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society in Mary’s memory.
