Margaret was born April 28, 1938 to Frank and Reba Meador in Houston, Texas, She was raised in South Houston, Texas and attended Pasadena public schools, graduating in 1956 from Pasadena High School. During her senior year she was named Most Beautiful and Homecoming Queen. She received a Bachelors in Education from Sam Houston State University where she met Gene McMicken, They were married on September 6, 1958. Gene was a Major in the US Army and was killed in a helicopter crash in 1966 while preparing for a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Margaret taught preschool in Seabrook and was a Kindergarten teacher in Friendswood ISD where she assisted in writing the first kindergarten curriculum. She enjoyed writing poetry and belonged to a writing club in Clear Lake. She had a lifetime love for horses, and after many years of teaching, Margaret fulfilled her dream of raising horses. She moved to Centerville, Texas where she ran the Pine Wood Ranch and belonged to the Appaloosa Horse Club. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her brothers - Don Meador (Kay) and Ben Meador (Janice); nephews - Mark Meador, Todd Meador (Hollie), Trey Meador (Carrie) and Ryan Meador (Hollee) and nieces - Melinda Meador Torrison (Rick) and Morgan Meador Sheen (Carson). She is also survived by six great nieces, six great nephews and close friends Dee Carr, Mike Casa and Levar Phillips.
Services are pending, but will be held at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038-1502.
