Margret Ann “Peggy” Eustes (nee Burns) entered heaven on May 4th after a battle with Congestive heart failure.
She was born in Reading Massachusetts on January 8th, 1937. She moved to Alabama then Florida as a child and grew up in St. Petersburg Florida. It was there that she met her husband Alfred W. “Bill” Eustes. They were married on October 9, 1955 at Childs Park Methodist church in St. Petersburg Florida. They were married for 67 years. Bill and Peggy joined the Air Force in 1965 and extensively traveled throughout the United States and overseas. While raising five children she also earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alaska and a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. Peggy earned her master’s in social work and was head of the family support/family service center for the air force and navy at Carswell in Fort Worth.
Peggy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She also loved to sing in church and with other groups. She loved her cats and was known as a “Cat whisperer”. She loved camping with three trips to Alaska and many places in the states. She even camped near Izmir Turkey. Peggy loved Disneyworld and camping there. She had a green thumb for growing flowers.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Fredrick and Violet Burns, two brothers Fred Jr and Jim, in laws Alfred and Dorothy Eustes, brother-in-law Charles Eustes, sisters in law Sally Gasky and Barbra Burch, and her son Bobby. Bobby died of a sudden illness at the age of 16 months in 1964.
She is survived by her husband Bill, sister Kathy Hogan, sister-in-law Jan Burns, sister-in-law Diane Lahoski, sister-in-law and husband Vivian and Dave Neumann; son Bill and wife Susan Eustes, son Don and wife Kim Eustes, son Steve and wife Mindy Eustes, and daughter Leanne and husband Bruce Perry. Grandchildren Wesley and wife Megan Eustes, Bethany and husband Derrick Tilbury, Alicia Eustes, Will Eustes, Zachary Perry, Eric and wife Lizzy Perry, Hannah Perry, Sean Eustes and Christopher Eustes. Great grandchildren Lawson Eustes, Emery Eustes, and Sophia Tilbury.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Metcalf. A graveside service will occur Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas where she will be laid to rest.
