Madeline Ann Schraeder passed away at the age of 70 on March 10, 2014, in Conroe, Texas. She was born October 31, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, to James “Lonnie” and Margaret Mitchell Gentry. She graduated valedictorian of Riesel High School in 1961. She and her childhood sweetheart, Harvey Schraeder, married August 31, 1963 and she graduated from Sam Houston State University in January of 1964. Madeline is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Young, and brother Jimmy Gentry. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Harvey Schraeder, daughters Greta Lyren of Bangkok, Thailand, and Christy Schraeder of Huntsville, Texas. Grandchildren Breslyn McCrory, James Lyren, Samuel Lyren, and Nicholas Lyren. Sister Emily Senuta of Kansas along with numerous nieces and nephews. Madeline was a Home Economics Teacher, a past volunteer leader of 4-H in Walker County, worked with Harvey at State Farm Insurance, and owned a design shop in Conroe. She served as Director of the Day School at First Christian Church and served as Chairman of Elders of First Christian Church. She and Harvey were very active with the Pumpkin Patch at the Church and were incredibly proud of the project. She will be remembered for her excellent design taste, fabulous parties hosted, and her beautiful Southern charm. She was a special friend to many. Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home at 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas. Graveside burial services will take place Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 10:00am at Garden Park Cemetery at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe. A Celebration of Life will take place at First Christian Church at 3500 North Loop 336 West, Conroe, Texas with Reverend Hope Attenhoffer, the Reverend Lisa Senuta and Chad Senuta officiating on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 2:00pm. The family would like to acknowledge and thank members of First Christian Church, friends and all medical staff that supported Madeline with love, encouragement and excellent care during the past year.
