Louis K. Schneider was born on March 26, 1934, and passed away on October 22, 2018, at the age of 84. Lou was raised in Philadelphia, along with his younger brother, Tom. He spent many happy hours at The Sandlot where he developed a strong love for all sports. Lou sang in the church choir and was the senior class president of Lincoln High School. Lou played on many sports teams, with one of his favorites being able to play baseball for the Nittany Lions. After high school, Lou attended Penn State University. While there, he was involved in intramurals, worked at the college bookstore, pledged and served as president of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, served as a battalion leader in ROTC, and played baseball. During Lou’s senior year, he was introduced to Jesus Christ through InterVarsity and trusted Him as his Savior. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Navy as an officer and was stationed on the island of San Salvador. To help build the morale of the men on base, Lou requested to start a church service. This was the beginning of his love for ministry as he saw men come to Christ. Lou returned stateside to a base near the Rio Grande, NJ area and was set up on a blind date with Margaret Kennedy. The rest is history, as they were married eight months later. Peggy and Lou celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past August. Lou desired to serve in full-time ministry and further pursued his education at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX. Strong lifetime friendships and mentors were built with professors and fellow classmates. Upon graduation, he ministered as a youth pastor in Phoenix, AZ, and then accepted a pastorate back in Dallas at Northwest Bible Church. During his Dallas years, Lou had many opportunities to minister through athletics, Bible studies, camps, and school. He later pastored in Corvallis, OR and finally at Conroe Bible Church. Lou always had a second love, and that was global missions. After resigning as pastor, he developed a ministry to encourage and disciple missionaries and national Pastors. He was thrilled to be able to travel all over the world to accomplish this equipping and to see many come to know and love Christ. This was his desire until the end of his life. Lou also enjoyed playing golf and enjoyed participating in many golf tournaments in the local Conroe area for years. His parents, Louis and Thelma Schneider, preceded Lou in death. He is survived by his wife Peggy, son David (Gwen), daughter Ann, daughter Kathy (Scott), and son Stephen (Katie); brother Tom; and grandchildren Meredith, Maggie, Karis (Bill), Prescott, Meg, Nate, Evangeline, Kyle, Keelie, Kaleb and Kiersten. A memorial service to honor Lou will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Conroe Bible Church. The service will be officiated by David Schneider.
