Kenneth Wofford born June 9, 1930, departed this earth on Friday, February 11, 2011 for his permanent home after an extended struggle against chronic illnesses. He was the oldest son born to Nina Edwards Wofford and Rhotten Parrott Wofford, Jr. in Santa Rita, New Mexico. The family moved to El Paso, Texas in 1939, then to Waco, Texas in 1946 and Marble Falls, Texas in 1947 where Kenneth graduated from high school in 1948 as Salutatorian of his class. He served in the U.s, Navy from 1950 to 1954 when he was honorably discharged as a first class electrician’s mate. During his tenure in the Navy he served in the Philippine Islands and on several minesweepers in Korea, Japan and on both coasts of the United States. After being discharged he attended McMurray College in Abilene, Texas, where he met his future wife, Mona Wagner. He received a BS degree in mathematics from Texas Western College in El Paso, Texas. Kenneth and Mona were married in El Paso, Texas on March 9, 1960. Kenneth worked for the T&NO railroad for a number of years and after receiving his degree he joined Lockheed Company in San José, California and worked there for several years. In 1965, he returned to Texas where he joined Texas Instruments as a quality engineer in the Semiconductor Division. During his 30 year tenure he worked at TI facilities in Richardson, Texas; Houston, Texas; Sherman, Texas; Singapore and Midland, Texas. After retiring, Kenneth taught mathematics in the Conroe Public Schools. Kenneth was a passionate member of several Masonic organizations for over 50 years. He was Master of the North Houston Morning Lodge in 2005 and 2006, Worthy Patron of two chapters of the Eastern Star, member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners and York Rite. He also was a DeMolay Dad Advisor. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church or Conroe for many years. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Mona; children, Eilleen Kay Aldridge and family; Kenneth Wayne Wofford and family; two brother and their families, Charles R. Wofford and family and Donald R. Wofford and family. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 5pm until 7pm at Cashner Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1:00pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church on West Davis street. Guest are invited to a reception at the church after the interment. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American diabetes Association or the First United Methodist Church of Conroe.
