Ken was born March 15th, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Leggette and Marylee Land. He married the love of his life, Maxie Land, on August 17th, 1974.
Ken was a sixth generation Texan who graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School and proudly served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve “Airborne”. His professional career consisted of managerial positions in Air Cargo operations for UPS and Emery Worldwide, owning a landscaping company, and airport security coordinator for C-3 which is responsible for security communication for all three Houston airports, where he retired in 2005.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Maxie Land; daughter, Heather Fauss and husband Deryl; son, Travis Land and wife Erin; five grandchildren: Emma Fauss, Hudson Fauss, Lily Land, Vivian Land and Levi Land; brother, Dr. Richard Land and wife Becky; their children: Jennifer and Andy Graham and son, Ray; Richard and Chrissie Land; Rachel and Steven Lewis and sons, Corban and Dylan; Brother and sister-n-law, Jan and Tanya Archer; their children: Justin and Holli Archer and sons, Pendleton and Prescott; Nathan McCreedy and his children, Miles and Olivia. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Leggette and Marylee Land; niece, Crystal McCreedy.
Ken was a commanding presence with a quick wit who enjoyed spirited debates about a wide range of topics. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held Friday, March 10th at 10:30am at Metcalf Funeral Home.
