On January 11, 2012 our Savior Jesus Christ received another angel into the Kingdom of Heaven as He welcomed with open and loving arms, Joyce M. McFarland. Joyce was born on June 2, 1926 in Huntsville, Texas to Carey Burdeaux and Judy Lovelace-Burdeaux. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Cashner Funeral Home from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Funeral services for will be held on Monday, January 16, 2011 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Alan Ainglin officiating. The family will have a private graveside service in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J “Mac” McFarland in 1984 and by her dear friend and dance partner, Steve Christiansen. Joyce was raised in Huntsville, TX where she graduated from High School with the class of 1943. She attended Sam Houston State University and received her teaching degree. Joyce taught 2nd grade at various school districts and later in life became the Secretary to the Dean at Conroe High School. Joyce was a very caring person with a host of friends. Joyce loved traveling around the world and was a talented singer, but her passion in life was ballroom dancing. She and her childhood friend since kindergarten, Flora Traylor, sang in the late 1930’s on KSAM. Joyce is survived by her children; Tom McFarland, David McFarland and his wife Cindy; Barbara Riggs and her husband Jim; daughter-in-law, Norma Formby; grandchildren, Scott, Jamie, Brian, Megan, Jeremy and his wife Stacey and Tasha Mize and her husband Damon; great grandchildren, Faith, Caiden, Falon, Stormy and Arriana and by her close friend, Dick Nutter. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends also survive.
