David was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepfather, Joe Foshee; his sister, Linda Trimble, and brother, Thomas L. Tate Jr. David is survived by his wife, Rhonda Tate, his sister, Beverly Clark, brothers, Paul Tate and Jeffery Tate, and sister Sheri Foshee O’Neil; two children, Robert Smith and John D. Tate, Jr.; four grandchildren, Robbie, Taylor, Zayne and Kason; eight great grandchildren; and countless other family and dear friends.
David graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas. He later began his airline career in 1968 working for Trans Texas Airways which then became Texas International Airlines. David would go on to retire with Continental Airlines where he served with dedication for 43 years and was beloved by his coworkers. David loved to help and serve his community. He was elected Chairman of Montgomery County Precinct 17 in 2004, and served for over a decade. David has been a part of the fabric of Precinct 17 since the 1970s making lifelong friends and contributing to the community. His 30+ years of service made him loved by many.
David was a faithful member of Conroe Church of Christ and lived his life dedicated to serving God. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” which exemplifies his unwavering faith. David is now at peace in the hands of God, and we know that God is pleased to have one of his most precious angels back in his arms.
Although David’s presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love, compassion and kindness in all that we do.
