John Ross “Buddy” Hvezdos was born November 6, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Stephen Hvezdos and Theda Barron Hvezdos. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 4, 2018 at the age of 75. He graduated from Judson High School in Longview, Texas in 1961. Buddy served his country in the US Army from 1964-1966. Following his service, he moved to Houston and began working in the wholesale pharmaceutical industry. He married Shirley Smith on May 24, 1968 and they joined First Baptist Church of Conroe where he was later baptized in 1969. Buddy and his wife worshiped and served at FBC Conroe for 50 years and was ordained as a deacon in 1985. He enjoyed teaching 7th grade Sunday School, singing in the church choir, being church greeters, and participating in activities with his life group. Some of Buddy’s main interests were singing and playing the guitar playing in several bands over the years: The Redcoats, The FlatTops, The Texas Foursome, and Denim & Lace. Buddy had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. His favorite birthday meal was Frito Pie. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Hvezdos; sister, Patty Hvezdos; brother, Michael Hvezdos. Buddy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Shirley Hvezdos of Conroe, Texas; daughter, Shannon McDaniel and husband Jamie of Tyler, Texas; son, Ross Hvezdos of The Woodlands, Texas. He is also survived by his mother, Theda Hvezdos; sister, Julia Tims, and brother, Tim Hvezdos, all of Longview, Texas. Grandchildren, Ashlyn McDaniel, Austin McDaniel, Jaxton Hvezdos and Presley Hvezdos. Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Conroe from 9-10:30am with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 10:30am with Dr. Jeff Berger officiating. Burial will be in the Houston National Cemetery at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church Conroe for the Retire the Debt project.
