After graduating from high school, Joe continued his passion for learning, receiving a Masters degree from Sam Houston State University. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart and Air Medal after being wounded over Belgium during a mission into Germany.
Joe worked in the oil and gas refining industry for 30 years and retired from Charter Oil and Gas in 1984. He enjoyed 27 years of retirement full of serving and loving his Savior, his family, his church, his friends and neighbors and his passion for the game of golf. He had a standing T-time Monday thru Friday at April Sound Country Club until he was physically unable to play anymore. Our dad was a real renaissance man. There was nothing he could not do, build or repair.
Our deepest thanks go out to the staff at the Heritage Oaks Memory Care Unit and the Lighthouse Hospice for their gentle, loving care of our dad during his last days. May God richly bless each one of you.
