Jewel Thompson was born on August 23,1938 in Kilgore, Texas to George and Jewel Reese. Jewel was raised by a special uncle and aunt Robert and Dora Tornes. She passed away on March 20, 2025 in Conroe Texas surrounded by her family. She graduated from Aldine high school in 1956 and received her diploma. She worked in the secretarial /bookkeeping field for many years. Jewel was a longtime resident of Montgomery, Texas, and a devoted Christian who attended Conroe Church of Christ, where she enjoyed helping others, and working in the food pantry.
Jewel was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, putting puzzles together and playing a domino game called chicken foot. She was also known for her talent of holiday decorating. Jewel loved traveling with family and friends to different places.
Jewel is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dora Tornes; husband, Carroll Thompson of 45 years, brother, Thomas Reese, and son, Carroll Thompson, Junior.
She is survived by her two daughters and son, Michelle Rene Wright, Dawne Haikenwaelder and husband Donald, Craig Thompson and his wife Diane, and Daughter-in-law Janet Thompson. Grandchildren Cliff Haikenwaelder and his wife Amber, Michelle Thompson , Molly and Blake Thompson, and a great grandchild, Travis Haikenwaelder as well as a host of friends.
A graveside service for Jewel will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Rd, Conroe, TX 77303 with Pastor Steve Yates officiating.
