Janet fought hard to live her life as fully as possible and make as many memories as she could with those she loved. She was so happy to meet and have many visits with her first grandchild (Summer Grace) and enjoyed renewing wedding vows on her husband’s birthday (July 21st). Her family so loves Janet and will miss her every day, but is also comforted in knowing she is now free of ALS and no longer suffering. Her family is grateful she is finally at peace and now being comforted by God in Heaven.
Janet was born to Kenneth and Annette Richardson in Austin, Texas on March 22, 1957. She enjoyed cooking and being a mother to her three children. Janet loved to volunteer and this would coincide with the different activities her children participated in and served with the Aggie Moms.
Janet was a sports fan, supporting the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. She was also a history enthusiast. She spent many hours researching her genealogy.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Joseph “Joe” McDonough, children Kristen McDonough, Lauren McDonough, and Ryan McDonough and wife Jessica, granddaughter Summer McDonough, sister Lynn Bratusek and husband Troy, brother Phillip Richardson and wife Marcella, and numerous nieces and extended family.
A Celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Wildwood United Methodist Church in Magnolia, with inurnment to follow in Garden Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the ALS Therapy Developmental Institute.
