Graveside services for J.D. Hicks, age 86, of Houston will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10 a.m. in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.
J.D. was born June 13, 1924 in Pine Ridge, Arkansas and passed away on December 27, 2010 at his home in Houston, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Natoma Bay. He was married to the love of his life, Theo Josephine Putman Hicks, for 48 years until her passing in 1994. “I’m coming home to be with you again, Theo.”
J.D. is survived by his son, Steven M. Hicks and wife Diane Hicks of Houston; brothers, Carl E. Hicks and wife Anna Mae Hicks of Pine Ridge, Arkansas and Jimmy L. Hicks and wife Linda of Houston; sisters, Edna J. Gortemiller and Johnnie Mae Wallace, both of Arkansas; grandchildren, James D. Hicks, Justin Hicks, Merry Hicks Grant, Nancy Hicks Nelson, Kimberly Hobbs, Alan Murray and Angie Cline; great grandchildren, Shelby Hicks, Sarah Hicks, Bailey Hicks, Hannah Hicks, Patrick Shaw, Josephine Shaw, Victoria Shaw, Katie Shaw, Sarah Nelson, Kelly Hobbs, Katie Hobbs, Kaleb Hobbs, Cody Murray, Billy Murray, Robin Alvarez and Nicholas Diaz; special friends, Albert Lopez, E.B.
