Jack Langford Warren lost his second courageous battle with cancer on February 1, 2023. Jack was born in Beaumont, Texas to George Langford and Mildred Thruston Warren on May 27, 1941. There was a second blessing as his twin sister, Judy, arrived a few minutes later. Jack was a loving, strong, curious, problem solving man, who loved his family, especially his life-partner, Dink, his son, Keith and all of their grandsons. He greatly enjoyed his forty-five years working at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and participated in many successful missions, giving it his all when asked. As one of his colleagues said, “He always faced challenges with courage and good humor.”
Jack is survived by his wife, Lloydine (Dink) Warren of 59 years; Son, Keith Langford Warren; Grandsons, Micaiah (Micah) Sharai, (Married to Suzie Ford Walker), Grandson, Joshua Langford; Great-Grandsons, Rourk Aiden, Luke Skyler-Ray, Maston Jack; Twin-sister, Judy Warren; and Sisters-in law, Jackye Cannon, Glenda Cummings, and Brenda Hughes. Preceded in death were: His parents and a beautiful, loving daughter and mother of Micaiah Walker, Reagan June Walker.
Jack and Dink lived in Clear Lake City area during their working years and moved to April Sound in 2012 to enjoy a more relaxing way of life in retirement. Together, they enjoyed gardening, cooking, bird watching, astronomy of the night sky, and admiring the beauty of the lake. They brought with them a legacy that lives on from Dink’s career in teaching and coaching and Jack’s involvement with NASA and the Johnson Space Center. In the beginning of Jack’s career, he drew the short straw, which entitled him to open the first box of moon rocks brought back to earth to the Lunar Receiving Lab in 1969. Other space missions that he was participated included the Cosmic Dust Project, Genesis Project, Stardust Project, Muir Project and others. Another career highlight came when Dr. Stephen Hawking requested to see his lab that handled the Stardust project. Jack was recognized by NASA in 2012 for Exceptional Public Service.
A celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church on in Conroe, Texas on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow the service for visiting and story-sharing. The Celebration of Life Service will be live streamed at www.Fbcconroe.org/livestream. A Graveside service will be held at a later date in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Henderson, Texas.
