Gerald Lawrence Hasara, fondly known as "Pop" by his family, passed away in his home, Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Conroe at the age of 75. He was born on March 1, 1939 in Mahanoy City, PA. His family moved to Conroe in 1953. He graduated from Conroe HS in 1957, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. He was a successful wholesale businessman for 20 years. Over the many years, Gerald enjoyed waterskiing, fishing, golf and travel with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Leocadia Hasara. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara Carr Hasara, daughters Denise Carroll of Bryan and Sheri Cantu of Magnolia, son in laws, Robert Carroll and Johnny Cantu, beloved grandchildren Cory Cantu, Emily Carroll, Courtney Cantu, Mary Carroll and Claire Cantu. Gerald also leaves behind brother’s Jack and wife Paula, Bernard and wife Kathy, Kenny and wife Patsy, Alan, James and wife Vonnie Hasara, sister, Lois and husband Roy Friddell and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, TX. Visitation will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home, Monday, December 29th from 5-8 pm, followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, TX on Tuesday, December 30th at 11am. Interment will follow in Elmina Catholic Cemetery, New Waverly, TX. Pallbearers will be Alan Hasara, Kenneth Hasara, James Hasara, Robert Carroll, John Cantu and Cory Cantu. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Hasara and Bernard Hasara.
