A visitation for George will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mims Baptist Church, 1609 Porter Rd, Conroe, Texas.
George Roland Koomar went to be with The Lord on Friday, February 2, 2024 in Conroe, Texas. He was 82 years old. He was born on June 27, 1941 to Bhimdeo and Subhagia Kumar in Maria’s Pleasure Wakenaam, Guyana, South America.
From a very young age, George loved the outdoors. He loved riding his motorcycle, bodybuilding, fishing, and hunting. In Guyana, he was a schoolteacher for 28 years. He loved educating children. He was also an artist. He loved to paint and draw. He married the love of his life, Nasmoon on December 29, 1963. They shared over 60 years of love and laughter during their time together. They have five daughters, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He spent the first 41 years of his life in Guyana, then in November of 1982, he immigrated to Conroe, Texas with his family. He always had a passion for airplanes and wanted to become a pilot one day. He chose to pursue the aviation field, but decided to become an aircraft mechanic. He attended Rice Aviation in Houston, and upon finishing school, he was hired at Continental Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. For 18 years, he was a hardworking, dedicated employee, working on airplanes. He was proud of his career and enjoyed his time at Continental Airlines.
George loved The Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Accepting Jesus Christ into his heart was what he was most proud of. One of his greatest joys in life was his family. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He loved art, gardening, history, photography, carpentry, traveling, astronomy, and airplanes. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was deeply loved by his family and will be missed.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Bhimdeo and Subhagia Kumar, his daughter: Ruth, his son-in-law: Kevin, his siblings: Henry, Gallo, Betty, Reggie, Norma, Vincent, and Cherry.
He is survived by his wife: Nasmoon, his four daughters: Mary (Jeffrey), Martha, Rachel (Sean), and Sarah, his nine grandchildren: Lauren (Jared), Joshua, Ashley, Danielle, Joel, Jacob, Victoria, Anna, and Zachary, and three great-grandchildren: Carson, Reagan, and Jameson, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
George will be laid to rest in Forest Park The Woodlands, 18000 I-45 , The Woodlands, Texas.
