Gene Richmond

Eugene Dale Richmond, 80, of Friendswood passed away peacefully on October 27, 2018. The loving husband, father, Grandad, brother and friend was born the oldest of six children to Thelma Bullard Richmond and Byron Richmond on September 1, 1938 in Reno, NV. He and his family spent time in Nevada, Oregon and finally settled in Tuscon, Arizona, where he graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1956. Eugene retired from Local Pipefitters Union 211 in Deer Park, TX. Always a class clown and chief troublemaker, Eugene enjoyed his years with his pipefitting pals. He married Addie in 1976, and they spent years traveling to visit family and friends, and loved their children. They devoted their later years to the care of their grandchildren at their home in Friendswood, going to plays and sporting events and being dependable check-writers for school fundraisers. He enjoyed golfing near their home and fishing with his family, but few things brought him more joy than his old westerns. He had a witty, dry sense of humor and together, he and Addie filled their home with laughter for many years, and took the show on the road whenever they could. If you asked him how he would sum up his many years, he would tell you, "Don't worry about me. Just say 'he loved Addie', and that's all they need to know." His sparkling eyes and serious wit will be remembered by all who knew him, and while we know he's found peace with Addie, he will be deeply missed. Eugene is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years Addie; his parents, Thelma and Byron; his sisters, Della, Eve and Shirley; and his son Patrick. He is survived by his brother Robert and sisters Leta Joy and Sue; his children; Roxanne, Renee, Jeff and Mike; and grandchildren, Lindsay, Lauren, Alexandra and Seth. Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with Rosary starting at 7:00pm. Funeral service for Gene Richmond will be held at the Cashner Colonial Chapel on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 12:30pm with interment following at Garden Park Cemetery.
