Gary Lee Krone, a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and cherished friend, passed away on March 20, 2025, at the age of 75. Born to Don and Margie Krone and raised in Houston, Texas, Gary grew up with a strong sense of family and perseverance. He graduated from Spring Woods High School before attending Sam Houston State University, where he proudly played football, embodying the dedication and teamwork that would define his life.
Gary spent most of his career in the insurance industry, where he was known for his dedication to helping the insured “fight insurance companies.” His work was not just a profession but a passion, as he took pride in advocating for others.
Beyond his career, Gary had a love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, tournament fishing alongside his wife for years. In his later years, he developed a love for hunting and found joy in cooking while cheering for his favorite team The Raiders. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family.
Gary leaves behind his loving wife, Amy Ray Krone, with whom he shared 32 wonderful years. He is also survived by his family: Jeffrey, Kristen, and Brooklyn Krone; Ashlen Craddock; Ashley, Jackson, and Joshua Green; Logan, Diana, Aiden and Sophia McFarland; Taylor Spoerle and Levi Stephens; Nancy Krone, Stephanie McFarland, Linda Riddle, Matt Riddle, Alex Riddle, Lauren Durst and Bowdy Lee Krone.
Gary’s legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family and friends will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will be cherished forever.
Funeral Services for Gary Krone will be held on Wednesday, March 26th, at Metcalf Funeral Directors in Conroe, TX. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, followed by a service from 11-11:45 AM. A reception will take place from 12-1:30 PM, and burial will follow at 2 PM at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, TX. Those serving as Gary’s pallbearers will be Rusty Niemeyer, Jeff Krone, Logan McFarland, Jackson Green, Aiden McFarland and Joshua Green.
