Gary Michael Adkins was my grandfather, and the best one I could ever possibly ask for. He was there for every moment of my life, good or bad. He always acknowledged the fact that he was going to pass some day, which is why I believe he told me so much before he left this earth. 
   There was nobody else in the world he missed as much as his father, so every time me and my brothers would come to visit, he’d go on for hours about his childhood and Arthur’s service in ww2.  Most kids would have found that kind of stuff boring, but I was intrigued and would always look forward to one of our talks. I’m glad I did, because many of the interesting things I learned from him would’ve been wiped from history if he hadn’t passed them along.
   I know this is said more times than anyone can count, but cherish your loved ones while they’re still with you. I would do anything to talk to him one last time, even see his face one more time. 
   I hope to be as wise, caring, and gentle as he was, carrying down his middle name to my children and hopefully grandchildren after that. He will not be forgotten.
