Gabriel Enrique Olivella, M.D. was born on January 6th, 1935 in Colombia, South America. He attended medical school at the University of Cartagena, Colombia in 1957. He migrated to Chicago, Illinois where he completed his medical education and residency. His career as a Board Certified Family Practice Physician was mostly in Orlando, Florida, where he practiced medicine for most of his years.
He achieved U.S. citizenship in 1984, and as a proud citizen he served in the U.S. Army Reserve as Captain until 1988 with an honorable discharge. He was also recognized for dedicated and outstanding service for the U.S. Public Health system and 17 years of dedicated friendship, support, and commitment at the Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. His gentle, warm hearted nature will be sorely missed by all.
Gabriel left us on July 26, 2022, at the age of 87, years old. He is survived by his wife, Carmen (Gonzalez) Olivella; his three daughters Maria (William) Buitrago, Adriana (Richard) Gale, and Bibiana (Corey) Julin; his son Gabriel Eduardo Olivella; and his five grandchildren Ciarah Buitrago, Devin Gale, Sophia Gale, Jackson Julin and Lily Julin. He is preceded in death by Julia Coavas and Gabriel Olivella.
A visitation for Gabriel will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303, followed by a celebration of life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
