Errol Ralph Coker, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2021 in Conroe, Texas. Errol was born in Palestine, Texas. He was the son of Errol R. Coker, Sr. and Marie Coker. He loved growing up with his large family and helping out at his uncle’s family store.
In 1965 Errol moved to Conroe from Hamilton, Texas. He was a Radio Engineer and went on to work for many years in the same occupation for local and surrounding radio stations such as KIKR, Kstar, KILT, KIKK, KTRH AND KHCB.
Errol was not only a veteran of the United States Army, he was the chief of the Conroe Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Conroe Auxiliary Reserve Police Department.
Errol is survived by his wife Mary McCoy Coker of 46 years who still resides in Conroe.
A passion of Errol’s was model railroading. Errol joined All Points North Model Railroad Club (APN) located in Conroe, Texas. Errol became a respected and beloved member of APN with his enthusiasm, wit and his helping build APN with a world class layout. Errol’s great “radio voice” commanded respect and interest from all members at the clubhouse. Errol would tell of his travels around Texas focusing on the local railroad stations, depots and operations he experienced.
He will be missed by all who knew him. May He Rest In Peace.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with burial following in Conroe Memorial Park.
