Elmo Reese, 91, of Montgomery, Texas passed away Thursday December 28, 2017. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304. Burial of Elmo’s ashes will take place afterwards at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
Elmo was born in Mabank, Texas to Bradford and Martha (Childs) Reese. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas Texas in 1943 where he enjoyed playing football and running track. Elmo enlisted in the US Army, Merchant Marine Transport Corp. and served in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans during World War II. He married Claire Kesler from Irving, Texas in 1951, and devoted his life loving and taking care of his bride.
For much of his career, Elmo worked as a test engineer for NASA, Johnson Space Center Houston from it’s opening in 1963 through his retirement in 1989 and received numerous awards and recognition for his contribution to the NASA space program. Elmo enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and reading his Bible. Elmo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Claire Reese, his two sons, Brad and Brian Reese, two daughters, Robin Roose and Pam Best, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; all of whom will miss him dearly.
