Edwin Clarence Turner, Jr. passed from this earth onto Heaven of Friday, July 28th at the age of 86. Ed, lovingly known as Sonny, was born on November 7, 1936 in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend E.C. and Myrtle Turner and his two grandsons, A.J. and Ryan. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, his siblings, Laqueita Hamilton, Winona Gray, Carolyn Anthony (Rod), Glenda Morris (Jerry), Ellis Dale Turner (Lisa), Jerry Turner (Kay), and Brenda Larson (Bruce);his children Lana Rodriguez (Jesse), Lisa Wallace (Tony), Trey Turner (Melissa), Virginia Turner, David Sparks, Patrick Sparks (Kimmi), Wade Turner (Gaylyn) and Don Adair (Rhonda). He was known affectionately as Lollipop Grandaddy, Grandaddy, and Gracky to his many grand and great grandchildren.
Ed joined the army at a very young age, before the age of 18, earning the National Defense Service Medal before being honorably discharged. He worked as a police officer on the Tyler and Houston police forces before having a very successful sales career for many years. He was a member of Conroe First Assembly of God Church. He brought joy to all who knew him and his absence is deeply felt. He has a special fondness for cats, rescuing many over the course of his life. Graveside services will be at Houston National Cemetery in Houston on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 9:45 a.m.
