Edwin L. “Bud” Nelson was born October 19, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX to Beulah Langford Nelson and Edwin L. Nelson, Sr. He was an only child and grew up in Highland Park, TX. Bud left high school early to join the United States Marine Corps and serve in the Korean War. Bud was a patriotic man and was a Marine through and through. He married Marylois and had three children with her: Christy, Lars, and Eric. Later, he married Virginia S. (Ginny) Nelson and helped raise her three children: Rick, Alexis (Missy), and Matt; the younger two he adopted. Bud and Ginny were married nearly 40 years until her death in February of 2016. They enjoyed the many friends they made while living in April Sound in Montgomery, TX.
Bud’s interests were life on the ranch in Moulton, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, golf, gardening and anything he could do using his hands. In earlier years, Bud enjoyed time hunting dove, deer and turkey and he was always most “at home” while working outdoors. Bud enjoyed spending time with a lot of good friends including Jean Jardine and Lou Freitas, among others. Bud was very proud of our veterans and his family. He loved his and Ginny’s dog, Boots.
Bud is survived by his children, Christy C. Nelson, Lars H. Nelson and wife Susanne, Richard W.B. Davis and wife Carolyn, Eric T. Nelson and wife Lisa, Alexis C. Jasek and husband Glen, and Matthew J. Nelson and wife Daniella. Bud’s grandchildren are Isabel, Logan, Luke, Joshua, Aaron, Paul, Libby, Timothy, Ashley, Nicklaus, Noah, Sierra, and Eden.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday July 15, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at April Sound Church, Montgomery, TX.
