loving family.
Tommy was born in Joppa, Maryland on October 12, 1940. He was the son of the late Edward
and Josephine Heintz. He was in the first graduating class of Edgewood High School in 1958.
He went to the University of Southern Mississippi on a band scholarship. It was in college that
he met his wife, Libby. They were married for over 60 years, Tommy was a member of Sigma
Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Southern Miss and graduated with a degree in business in 1963. He
was a lifelong fan of the Golden Eagles and watched them any time he could. “To the top!”
Tommy and Libby moved to Houston in 1966, where he spent his career working for Texaco Inc.
Tom had a passion for running, having run many 5Ks and several marathons. Later in life, he
took up cycling and rode in many MS 150 rides. Tom enjoyed the outdoors and loved to be
involved in everything. He was always willing to help and be involved whenever anyone asked.
He was full of energy. He was involved in all his children’s activities while they were growing up.
When the family lived in Houston, Tommy was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where
he served as head usher. After retirement, Tom and Libby moved to The Woodlands and
