Genell Bowen Taylor passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Conroe Regional Hospital. Genell was born on September 1, 1929 in rural Grenada, Mississippi. After completing high school in Tupelo, Mississippi, one year ahead of her class, she pursued a modeling career by attending Powers School of Modeling in New York City. Her career was highlighted with multiple pages of pictures modeling dresses for Montgomery Ward in their 1947 main catalogue. Genell and Jefferson Carl Taylor Jr. were married on April 9, 1950, the start of their wonderful 66 year marriage. They first lived in Houston, then several West Texas towns, before moving to Arcadia, California in 1962, then to Conroe, Texas in 1985, to present. Genell’s first passion was a mother, caring for her family, and her grand and great grandchildren. Dancing with her husband was among her favorite past times, which included ballroom and square dancing. Genell and Carl were president of the Bluebonnets square dancing club for three years. Genell is survived by her husband Carl Taylor, step brother Jimmy (and wife Jean) Bowen, daughter Connie Davis, son Jeff Taylor, four grandchildren, Andy (and wife Sara) Taylor, Sara (and husband David) Todd, Aaron (and wife Kelly) Taylor; Kendall Taylor and six great grandchildren, Tyler Taylor, Jenny Todd, Rachel Todd, Lauren Todd, Landyn Hutto, and Wesley Taylor. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home (801 Teas Rd Conroe, TX 77303). Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mary Tumulty Officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
