Doug was my friend, a special man and wonderful boss!  We worked together over 11 years.  I have learned so much from him, he was always wanting to learn more, he loved to do research.   

He was a second father to both myself and Hugh.  He shared his family with us and we celebrated Holidays together.  The Bynum family is my Texas Family and will always be a part of my life. 

My heart goes out to Shirley and the family I ask God to help them with their loss.

Doug made a difference.  I will miss him.

As a result of a great personal loss for myself and family I sought Dr. Bynum for his expertise as I located him on the internet. It was shortly into our first conversation I realized he is a very special man. We discussed my specific issue and many others, infact he was willing to help me and invited me to stay at his home for several days so we could investigate some evidence. Over several years we spoke multiple times and every conversation was uplifting and special to me, I always came away feeling better and joyful following our conversations. He was willing to support me for no fee for his expertise and time. He expressed a sense of humor and I recall a joke statement to this date that I use and he was also happy to argue a point with me. Although we never met it seamed as though I was speaking with an old friend that had my best interest at heart. My condolences and prayers to his family and friends.

To my sisters,
I light this candle in honor of Dad and for you. The ties we have together can never be broken and I will cherish our sisterhood forever. When I hear the birds singing happily I think of Dad. When I see someone struggling, I think of Dad and help them the best way I can. When I hear honky tonk or good ole country music, I think of Dad. One finger dancing up in the air singing, "I eeeee." The lessons he taught us our undeniably engraved in our hearts.Each of us in our parenting skills demonstrate this as we pass on the legacy of our Dad to his grandchildren. I am thankful Dad was such a spiritual person and is in Heaven. He did good. I love you and I am glad I have a sister like you!

Mom,
I express my deepest condolensces to you. You are an amazing lady and I get strength even at this sad time from you. Please take care of yourself. Life i have found is going to be different, but the ties we have for one another will only get stronger. I am so happy Dad got to know his grandchildren and he didn't suffer a long lingering illness. I am happy for him, but continue mourning for us. You are doing so well Mom and I just want you to soak up all of this and take care of yourself. I love you.

My heart goes out to you all. You all are such wonderful people and it is so sad to hear of your loss.  Just reading the Guest Book entries show what a spectacular loving man Uncle Doug was and how he touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.  May your memories bring you comfort.

The Bynum family is a GEM!!! I worked for Doug for almost 2 years. He truly was my business mentor!  He was so full of knowledge and experience of life. I will continue to talk about how his high worth ethics and heart to do the right thing affected my life forever. He will forever be in my heart.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Shirley and the girls and all his grandchildren whom Doug loved dearly. His family was very important to him. I remember growing up and my dad John taking us three girls to their home for a week or so and just having an amazing time with the family and Uncle Doug was always on his toes teasing us.My family and I along with my Dad and Grandma spent a weekend 4 years ago with Shirley and Doug, it was an amazing time and I will always cherrish that weekend. We will all miss Uncle Doug dearly but he will never be forgotten. I have you all in my prayers. God Bless.

Those afternoons at your parents house when we had the parties or just get togethers are unforgettable. Both your Dad and your Mom went always above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. They showed and gave genuine affection and interest to everyone in the crowd. Your daddy had a special gift, with his smiling eyes and kind expression he made you feel as if you were the most important person in the room. His demeanor and personality makes him unforgettable, I often wonder what made your daddy appear that way to others. I found my answer yesterday he was a man that loved life, loved his family above all, and he knew our Lord. My thoughts and prayers are with your Mom, you, your sisters and all the grandchildren. You guys were blessed to have him in your lifes and he was blessed to have all of you. We will all be together in heaven one day, and we will be sharing popsicles.

He will be missed, we are here for you.

There are so many fond memories we all share and cherish of Doug aka PaPa, he will be missed daily. He was always so good to all the kids, even the ones that didnt belong to him.  He was always there with a coin or two and those magic words he spoke so kind and gentle to all the kids.  I have such respect to the whole Bynum clan as you have such love and faith in each other thru out all the years I have known you all. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you and I am more than happy to help with anything I can.  I'm there for you sister!

It is so difficult to find words that could ever comfort you all. They just do not exist.  He will be so greatly missed.  We just want you all to know we are with you in thoughts and prayers.  

Tammy, do not hesitate to ask us for anything you might need us to do.  Please give your mom a hug from me. 

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I am so, so deeply saddened by your Dad's passing. Please know that our familyis lifting yours up in prayer. I have only known you and your parents a short time but you all are just a warm and friendly bunch. I know you all were close because you talk so fondly about your parents and all the things you all do together. Our family is here for you just call if you need anything. May the good Lord be with both the Gubser and Bynum families. Dr. Bynum will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He has left such a positive impact on all those who knew him.

I will always remember the smile on your face when you spoke so fondly of your Dad and the shopping sprees he would take you on as an adult...his way of thanking you for being good kids growing up! I will never forget the kindness and generosity Mr. Bynum showed me while I was a struggling student at SHSU (I was Jody's roomate in college). After Jody got a new car, Mr. and Mrs. Bynum told me they wanted to sell me Jody's big old white car for $20. I did not have a car and was very excited!  When we were transferring the title at the Cypresswood Annex, Mr.Bynum said he had made a mistake on the price... my heart stopped - I had borrowed $10 of the $20 purchase price... then he said it was really only $1. I had never before been the recipient of such generosity, and I will forever be grateful. Another fond memory in later years was how Mr. Bynum loved to spoil kids, both grandkids and guests alike. His favorite trick was to give a child a popsicle, then another, then hold out the box and tell him to pick a third one. Soon the child would be standing there delighted but not quite sure what to do with 3-4 popsicles at once. These and many other memories reflect the joy he brought to others by giving of himself.   Goodbye for now Mr. Bynum. May the shining memories we have of you carry us through 'til we meet once again.

Dr. B was one of the most influential men I have ever met.  My prayers to all the family.

We would like to thank all of our friends & family for the support you have shown us during the last few days as we greive the loss of our father.  Our Dad loved his wife, daughters, son-in-laws, & grandchildren more than anything in the world & he was on his way to join us for an Easter celebration.  We will be celebrating in a different way, celebrating Dad's life and his love & compassion for others. We know Dad enjoyed his last few hours riding in the beautiful countryside before going to be with our Lord & Savior.  And we know he is rejoicing with our sister Cindy & pulling her ear right now. Dr. Bynum was a kind man that touched many hearts. I will always be eternally grateful to him and his wonderful family for what they have done for my family.  In our greatest time of grief and sorrow, Tammy, Marlon, Shirley and Dr. Bynum supported us.  We were never forgotten and they go above and beyond for those in need.  I will always remember the special attention he showed to PJ.  A loving little boy with cerebral palsy who found great joy in others.  Dr. Bynum... you will truly be missed and I promise we will keep watch over your loved ones until they are home with you.  God Bless you all.
